Earning Experience
Experience Points are gained through role playing, particularly through training and battle threads. However, you can earn Experience Points in threads that do not include some kind of fighting, we will dub these 'social threads'. You will gain a slightly smaller amount of experience for a Social Thread than you would for a Battle Thread, this is to help encourage your Digimon growing in strength through fighting and training. At the same time we don't want to discourage relationship and character development so you will still receive XP for Social Threads and basically what this XP accounts for is all the time in between threads that is not accounted for, as well as natural Digimon growth.
There is a direct correlation between word count and Experience Points. Those who are more detailed and descriptive with their posts will tend to earn more Experience than those that post the bare minimum. At the same time we will avoid awarding Experience Points toward those who try to lengthen their posts with a bunch of unnecessary fluff for the sake of trying to gain a boost in Experience. We want you to earn it, not bore us to death with a couple thousand words of backlog, flashbacks or by describing something completely irrelevant.
Battle threads start out at 1 XP per Word, or 100% XP gain from total word count. This means that if you have 10k words at the end of a battle thread you have the potential of gaining 10k XP. However, we will deduct from your total XP gain for various reasons such as if there are many posts that are irrelevant to the battle or if your posts are fluffed up with unnecessary content for the sake of expanding your word count. So in the end you may only have a 75% XP gain, which incidentally is what you gain for a social thread. The 75% XP gain for a Social Thread is pretty much locked in, unless we notice you have super long posts that have a lot of added, random, nonsense which don't really contribute to the thread at all.
Experience Points will be awarded at the end of each thread to each individual involved in the thread. Each individual may and most likely will earn different amounts since it depends on word count and content within. Each character involved will be required to total up their word count and post it within their last post of the thread. It might be a good idea to keep track of the total after each post so you know how much you have as you go along. Do not try to cheat, if a staff member suspects that you boosted your word count and they check to find that you have exaggerated it greatly then your experience points gained will be docked greatly. It is also required that you write a summary of what is going on in a post during a battle thread, summaries are not really necessary for social threads.
When a thread is finished and is ready to be checked by staff for Experience and other gains then post in the Experience Notification Thread.

Earning Bits
Bits are simply the form of currency on the site. You can earn them through role playing. You will receive bits only for in-character post, you will not receive any bits for posts that are in out-of-character boards. Besides just earning them through naturally role playing and posting there will also be opportunities to earn a little extra through either quests or plot based missions. Bits can be used to purchase Digi-Modify cards or other items, such as Digi-Farm items. You cannot give away or trade bits to others for any reason, the only way to obtain them is by earning them. You will earn 10 bits for every post in a 'battle thread' while you will receive 15 bits for every post in a 'social thread' in order to compensate for gaining less experience points. Bits will be tallied up and added at the end of each thread like Experience Points.
You can cash out bits early in a thread if you need them before the thread finishes, such as needing them to buy something for other threads. You cannot use items that you buy in an on-going thread, you can only use them in threads initiated after that purchase. If you wish to cash in early then simply post in the Experience Notification Thread and let the staff know that you just specifically want to earn your bits for the posts done so far in that thread. A staff member will then post and grant the Bits to each individual in that thread for the posts they have done so far and then the thread can continue on normally after that. Then at the end of the thread bits will still be awarded to any posts that occurred after the staff member posted, along with the Experience Points gained for the entire thread.
