HISTORY OF SHIKI RITSUKA
Born in Shibuya to a single mom, she and her brother, Akito, grew up in a tough environment. Their guardian was seen as the family boss of a particular type of nasty syndicate known as the yakuza. Their father was only ever allowed to visit during odd numbered weekends due to past sins he had committed against his ex-wife Suzuno. Because of this, Suzuno had to balance looking after the children, as well as dealing with tasks that cropped up from time to time within her job. Due to her strict nature, Shiki and Akito were limited in the things that they were allowed. It grew to a point where Shiki's older brother stood up against their mom, who retaliated with talk of how disrespectful her son was. Eventually, their argument escalated to such a height that Akito stormed out of the house, shouting back to them that he was going to move out.
He was meant to be the heir to business.
Now, in the present day, Shiki is to inherit this role. Mentally, she wishes to refuse, hating the brutality of which she has been shown in the brief time that her mother revealed the extent of her job by taking her with her during a task. The memory of that occasion has stayed with her for many years, repressed in the back of her mind to never be thought of again. She prefers to play video games; staying at home inside, rather than stepping outside.
This is partially how she became intrigued in Crosswire's announcement. However, it wasn't due to rumours heard, nor posters or advertisements seen. Instead, it was through her brother that she gained knowledge of Crosswire. She had visited him on the quiet during a time whilst her mother was out, and he had invited her inside his home telling her of something he thinks she might be interested in. Knowing how much she likes video games, he described Crosswire's creation and subtly mentioned a ticket, which he had bought from a friend.
"I'm not interested in video games," he'd said. "But, Koshiro had been asking if anyone wanted this ticket, and I'd thought of you. So, you want it? It allows you access to their game as a Beta Tester."
Fascinated by the concepts that Akito had told her about, she'd accepted the ticket. "The opening will be in Akihabara District, so it shouldn't take too long to get there. Besides, I don't think Mom would even notice what with everything going on at the moment." He had laughed.
The very next day, Shiki attended the opening and headed on inside, her curiosity growing as she her details were registered and she proceeded on to the next step. What kind of game will this turn out to be?
SHIKI RITSUKA'S HOME SERVER
« 0101 » The shortest description of Shiki's home server would be the simple usage of the word steampunk. With a door fitted with a porthole in the middle and a lock wheel just below, and a huge room of hues of dark brown, rusted red, greens and yellows it surely fits the word. An immense arched window allows onlookers to peep out onto an illusionary world, equipped with blimps and steam-powered vehicles chugging along dark roads. The chairs and couches have been fitted with rusty red cushions, some arranged to face a stove, or the mechanical-themed computer/television, and the desk that faces the left side of the room. A second room with a door similar to the entrance way leads to the bedroom equipped with a four-poster bed, its support similar in appearance to that of copper pipes.
