My name is Hikaru. Well, I suppose that's what you can call me on the site. I mainly have watched Digimon as a TV series but have not played the games much and/or read the manga and light novels. I own one of the lovely D-Power Digivices of Season 3, but never actually beat the little game on it.
I truly enjoy Digimon, but I will come out and say I do not like Season 4 nor Season 5 after having seen only a few episodes of it. Season 4 is a part of the series I do not like because they changed up the formula for the show too much by not having Digimon partners and then not dubbing it well. I watched a few episodes in subbed format mostly, since that was how I could best access it after its original air, and still did not find it enjoyable. I think ultimately though I felt something was just off with the pacing and story content of the show to make it enjoyable for myself.
As for Season 5, well, I heard the dubs were not good and after watching an episode of it in that format I could not like it much. I think I may have seen it in subbed format and it was not much better. I just cannot understand why they recycled Agumon as the protagonist's partner Digimon and gave him new forms. I feel each main hero should have their own unique Digimon and one like Ryudamon would have fit the bill since they had been doing that since the start of the series. I also think I have heard some odd things about Season 5 where they involved the actual military or something in DATS initial invasion of the Digital World. It sounded like they attacked evil Digimon or something while there and then left after getting lucky enough to escape; although, one of the scientists Masaru's father got left behind. That just left a bad taste for me in terms of that series since that means evil Digimon aren't super dangerous creatures that humans have no way of stopping except with other good Digimon.
Anyway, that aside, I don't like much of either of these seasons compared to 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7. But am willing to try to get back into Digimon again, by joining this site, since I have missed out on Season 4 and 5, and am looking for a good Digimon experience. You all seem to offer it with a simple profile and nice story.
Although I do not like Season 4 and 5 I have watched all the movies, including Island of Lost Digimon and found it more enjoyable then "Digimon: Ultimate Power! Activate Burst Mode!" I probably will get back into watching Season 4 and 5 in the near future, but I would to enjoy my time here a bit first. This is probably the longest greeting on here, but I grew up on Digimon and love it very much.
