give my love to a shooting star, but she moves so fast that I can't keep up. "This... is... ridiculous." Kaoru said between breaths as he pulled down the hood of his jacket, the sand that had accumulated on it and his shoulders trickling to the floor. The teen and his partners had finally found an entrance to the protected part of the ruins, albeit bringing a portion of the desert with them. "You've got it easy, kid. They're gonna have to disassemble me to get all the sand outta my cogs." Beta, who followed in behind him complained as he spun his gears, grain by grain quickly spilling into the floor. Alpha was quick to do the same, which left Abraxas the Keramon to dust himself off and laugh about the whole situation. "I dunno what you guys are whining about, that was fun!" His giggle was always a bit... off, but Kaoru was too busy cleaning himself up to notice. "Remind me again why we're here?" The tamer ran a hand through his hair after removing his jacket and tying it around his waist. "Because not many people wish to brave the deserts, and since you seem to have a problem with others—pardon my assumption—I assumed this would be the best place to explore and possibly train." Alpha always had a way with words, and like usual Kaoru was persuaded to nod and agree. Besides, he'd secretly imagined what it would be like to explore an old structure like this, and now he had the perfect opportunity. Holding his digivice up to cast some light down the dark hall was the most he could to as he walked forward, his hand trailing along the wall for support. Alpha and Beta stayed by his side, while Abraxas opted to take the lead, his curiosity getting the best of him. "This place is cool!" The Digimon shouted, which elicited an immediate reaction from his tamer. "Rax, keep it down." He scolded his partner in a hushed tone. "Who knows what could be lurkin' down here." This was a game after all. Who's to say it doesn't work like his mmos, where the deeper you get in the ruins the harder the enemies got? They had only gotten so far in where the sand had stopped pouring in, and there was no telling how much more there was to explore. "Lighten up! There ain't nothin' down here we can't take." Beta was always one to pick fights. "M-Maybe he's right. We shouldn't openly look for trouble before we've got our location mapped out. If something chases us down one of these corridors we could lose our way." The Hagurumon huffed at Alpha's sound reasoning, deciding to drop it after getting a stern glare from Kaoru. ★open! tagged 449 words yeee notes |

Sand shifted over the expanse of the dunes, snaking across the grains in transparent bursts. The cool weather had been enough of an excuse for Shiki to contemplate braving the desert, although there was little in the ways of danger from here to there; a broken down structure with little purpose beside suitable shade. However, Booker considered its usefulness beyond just that: "Could be a useful spot to test out our fighting abilities." With each leap forward across the sand, he flapped his small demonic wings, keeping the granules from clinging to his fur at the same time as he was briefly airborne. "Seems like a treacherous buildin', eh? Filled with possible strong enemies.""Possible," Shiki said. "But not altogether true." The ruins reached up unevenly to the sky; already Shiki could tell that the structure was a broken remnant of its former self. Whether or not it actually ever had a use beyond being a mere digitally created building. The past of such things wasn't even worth looking into. They were simply props in this world away from home. "Ugh, this sand is getting all over my beautiful feathers," Elizabeth muttered to herself, brushing her wing talons across her right shoulder and across the top of her head. "This dreadful wind is not helping matters, either. It keeps blowing these blasted grains in my eyes." She blinked rapidly and rubbed at her eyes, as if to emphasize her point. "It's not too bad," Songbird said. "At least it's nice and cool." A flicker of a small smile stretched across his beak for a moment, but it was quickly removed when Elizabeth shot him a nasty look. "We're almost there now," Shiki told them, her tone dull. Bickering was something that seemed to happen often when it came to Elizabeth. Mostly it was directed at Songbird, rarely Booker, but she'd had enough of it. They were to explore these ruins, hopefully find something to fight, and be on their way. Eventually, they had stepped inside the entrance-way, much to the relief of Elizabeth, who promptly began to brush off the sand. Half-way through her preening, however, she noticed a sand trail leading deeper into the ruins. Her eyes narrowed in thought. She wasn't the first to notice. Shiki studied the wavering lines quietly, whilst Booker casually walked ahead. "Someone's been here before us," she announced. "Doubt that'd be much of a problem, Shi'," Booker said, peering further into the gloom. "These ruins look like they gonna' be twistin' and turnin' enough for us to not stumble 'cross no one.""Hrm," Elizabeth uttered. As long as there was less of a chance of falling sand, she couldn't care less if there was people around or not. Shiki fell silent, instead moving past the trio and down a passageway. The others followed her, Songbird's expression reflecting his nervousness as he tagged along behind the group. The further they headed in, the darker it got until eventually Shiki had to rely on her D-terminal for a source of light. A shout echoed down the corridor and Songbird shivered, twirling the end of his scarf in worry. "I-is that something we should be worrying about?" he asked shakily. "I don't think so, kid. And even if it was, we'd pummel it." Booker paused to crack his knuckles, his smirk half-hidden in darkness. However, as they ventured ever deeper into the ruins, footsteps that weren't their own began to echo back to them. It was soon clear, as they advanced, that another group was exploring the ruins too. But, despite the weak mumbles for them to go back from Songbird, Shiki continued to march on. She didn't really care if they caught up with the strangers or not. On one hand, if they encountered them, they might aid them in a fight, on the other, they might pass them right by. However, it soon became clear that the former would be more likely as shadowed figures appeared before them. Songbird uttered a muffled squeak and hid half of his face behind his scarf. The other two didn't seem as affected by the sudden visibility of the hidden group. Instead Booker hunkered down, eyes on the shadows. Did Shiki not care if they were seen or not? She was a strange one indeed... WORDS 717 TAGGED KAORU AKIYAMA SUMMARY Shiki treks across the desert with her Affinity Pack. They enter the ruins in hopes of a wild Digi encounter and begin to investigate further into the depths of ruins. give my love to a shooting star, but she moves so fast that I can't keep up. It wasn't long before Alpha felt someone staring at him. A quick turn revealed that his tamer had been shooting him an unexplained glare for some time now, even though to his knowledge he'd done nothing wrong. "Is something bothering you?" The Solarmon seemed a bit put off by the look he was receiving; perhaps he'd messed up somehow and didn't notice. "No, not exactly." The teen kept his eyes locked on his partner as they moved through the corridors. "You're kinda overheating all the time, right?" His question was mostly rhetorical, but nevertheless Alpha kindly responded with a nod. "I suppose, why?" Kaoru raised his eyebrows, inquisitively looking the digimon over. "Then can't you use all that extra energy to... I dunno... light up or something?" Alpha gasped, almost disgusted by his tamer's assumption. "Are you attempting to covertly ask me if I can be used as some kind of flashlight? I am appalled !" The entire conversation triggered a hearty laugh from Beta, who was thoroughly amused by Alpha's response. "Ahhh cheer up, at least then you'd be useful." The Solarmon frowned a bit, but he knew the teasing was all in good fun. Abraxas was too busy examining the intricate little carvings in the walls to hear what the others were talking about. "Guyssss look at these, they're so pretty!" As they all looked over, a moment of silence finally washed over the group, only to be broken by the curious tamer. "I wonder how old this thing is. Or... I guess how old it's programmed to be." Surely if it were to collapse that would have already happened, right? Still, it didn't hurt to ask. "Do you think there's any chance that they co-" "Shaddup for a second." Beta cut Kaoru off mid-sentence, causing the boy to puff up his cheeks in protest. He refrained from continuing, however, because once he had stopped walking a second group of footsteps still continued, accompanied by words he couldn't quite hear. "I knew it~" The Hagurumon happily spun around, facing the back of the team. "Ooooh are more people coming? Do they wanna play?" Abraxas was ecstatic; the thought of actually getting to meet other tamers was fantastic! Kaoru usually opted to shy away from other people, so this was a rare opportunity he didn't want to pass up. "Hush." Kaoru slowly turned, but before he got the chance to react he was basking in the light from a stranger's d-terminal. "Tch." Getting caught like a deer in the headlights wasn't exactly his idea of a good time, but at least it wasn't an attack. Well, not yet anyway. Alpha and Beta quickly got on either side of Kaoru, gears beginning to spin just in case there was a battle between them and this other team in the near future. Abraxas, however, casually floated in front of them with a smile on his face. "Are you here to play with us?!" After his digimon's question Kaoru took the opportunity to lift his digivice, exposing the group behind the blinding light. "Don't mind him. He's... weird." Rax, instead of being offended by the teen's comment, backed up his statement with a childish giggle. In an attempt to make it apparent that he wasn't hostile (and to show Alpha just how wrong he was about his people skills), the boy stepped in between the two prepared machine digimon and in front of the group as a whole, extending an open hand for the stranger to shake if she so desired. "Mint. I'm guessin' we're here for the same reason." As of right now he decided that it would be best to introduce himself with his username, which he saw no problem with. That's what you do in a game, after all. ★ |
((Kaoru and his team were exploring the ruins when Beta heard a sound in the distance. Soon enough they stumbled upon the other group, and Kaoru introduced himself while his partners took defensive positions.))

Not long after the silhouettes had become more or less visible in the light of the D-terminal, one of the four of the unfamiliar group floated up; coming to rest in close proximity of them. "Uh..." Songbird uttered, the single syllable muffled by his scarf. However, before he was able to stumble on with his sentence the three Digimon winced somewhat at the sudden exposure to light; although Shiki merely narrowed her eyes to protect them from the glare. She took note to the hostility of two of the trio of Digimon before the boy and connected the Keramon's words to possible conflict. This was soon put to rest, however, as their Tamer stepped in front of them and introduced himself. She nodded. "Aviator." She took his hand and shook it. Her mood was ever changing, and as of right now, she was in that frame of mind to not care if she was in the company of others. "This place looked like it could hold some strong opponents, so we ended up testin' that theory out," Booker piped up. "Could help us in gettin' stronger ourselves, eh?" He chuckled, the tone gravelly and rough. "As long as there's not more of that sand to dirty my feathers," Elizabeth added with a sniff. "I already look a frightful mess as it is." She hated how the sand forced her head-feathers to stick up, it caused a tickling sensation that she couldn't quite reach. "A pleasure to meet you all, I'm sure," she continued, looking at each of the opposite group in turn. "I'm Elizabeth. The teddy bear-" "Watch it...!" "-is Booker, and that quiet thing is Songbird." She gestured back to the chocolate-brown Biyomon who waved half-heartedly at the others. "It is nice to meet you all."A plethora of words were unnecessary for one such as Shiki; she simply let her team of Digimon do the talking. After all, they were capable of introducing themselves in much the same way as humans - they did have the necessary implements for talking. The darkness of these ruins were somewhat unexpected. Shiki hadn't come exactly prepared for it, despite the D-terminal she possessed. Secretly, she was glad that she had the device. It was useful in more ways than one, which was something of a surprise in itself in some ways. One of the first things she had noticed about the group opposite was the Keramon, she had seen one before and knew of their usual unpredictable nature. The other two, however, she had not seen before. Finding herself more and more intrigued in the ways of this Digital World and the species that it exhibited. She found herself jotting down a mental note to question their type on her D-terminal at a later date or time. WORDS 416 TAGGED KAORU AKIYAMA SUMMARY Shiki soon introduces herself to the stranger, not long after his own introduction. Her Digimon much do the same, and Booker tells Mint much the same as he'd probably expect; that they came to the ruins looking for a fight against the wild Digis there. LAIKA OF GS!

give my love to a shooting star, but she moves so fast that I can't keep up. The girl had accepted his introduction and made one of her own, as was to be expected. Kaoru took note of her username before turning his attention to one of her Digimon, who was talking about how dreadful the sand outside was. He took the time to lower his digivice to avoid blinding the group further while Alpha and Beta relaxed. The Hagurumon casually flew over to the other tamer's Phascomon, a smile on his face. "Yup, that's what we're doing too. Nothin' better than beating the crud out of someone and gettin' more powerful." Beta spun his gears enthusiastically, excited by the thought of what he may digivolve into once they'd trained enough. Upon hearing the Falcomon's complaints pertaining to the sand, Alpha nodded in agreement from the back of the group. He made his way to Kaoru's side, opposite of Beta, and lowered himself to meet the digimon at eye level. "Isn't it absolutely awful? I was almost certain we'd never make it out of that sandstorm." The machine digimon shivered. "Just the thought of going back out there makes me cringe." He'd barely gotten the sand out of his gears as it was, so there was no way he'd willingly go back out into that mess any time soon. Elizabeth was kind enough to introduce Aviator's team, so Alpha took it upon himself to do the same for Kaoru. "I'm Alpha. My counterpart over there goes by Beta, and the energetic Keram-" "I'm Rax!" Abraxas twirled by just in time to cut the Solarmon off, much to his dismay, before hovering over to the timid Biyomon. "Aww what's wrong? Don'tcha wanna play?" His disappointed tone was innocent enough, but Kaoru was almost positive that the virus digimon always had some kind of ulterior motive. "Rax, back off a bit." His partner obeyed and went off to the side to look at more wall carvings, albeit slightly disgruntled. Hopefully he understood that the last thing they needed to do was scare off the team they just met. With that, Kaoru turned away from his temporary teammate, using his digivice to look down one of the corridors as far as possible. "There's gotta be some kind of light source somewhere, right? It wouldn't make sense to program a level like this without one..." Perhaps he treated the situation a little too much like a video game. "The question is, which way do we go?" He turned once again to Aviator, an indecisive pout on his face. "Well, what're ya waitin' for kid?" Beta flew over and stared him down, growing tired of sitting here now that the introductions had come to an end. The teen shrugged and chose a random corridor that they've yet to explore, taking a few steps forward and turning back to make sure the rest of the group was following. It's not that he really cared, but if they got split up this early on it could be problematic. ★ |
((Kaoru's digimon introduced themselves before Beta forced him to pick a path. He reluctantly took the lead, looking back to see if Shiki or any of the digimon protested his choice.))

The separate groups, as a whole, visibly relaxed. Even Shiki, who often anticipated a fight in some form of another, felt calm. Booker flashed something that could have been a smile at the approaching Hagurumon. "Definitely," he agreed, pleased he wasn't the only one who thought in such a way. "The more powerful we get, the more advantages we can have over an opponent." He clapped his paws in appreciation of his thoughts pertaining to digivolution. He had no idea what the metamorphosis would make him look like once it finally came around, but he had a feeling it would show his strength outright. Elizabeth was truly surprised when the colourful mechanized Digimon floated over to meet and talk to her at eye-level. Somehow, it made her feel special to have someone agree with her in such a polite manner about the terrible sand that lingered outside. "Truly horrendous," she agreed. "I am hoping that such weather will have abated by the time we have to risk going out in it again. At least then only my feet will have to suffer the annoyance of the sand, or in your case, you will be much luckier. I have to say, I envy you somewhat for your ability to float. It's not so easy for me, unfortunately." She smiled, as the trio thought to give their names in turn. Such polite company they had fallen into... Even if the Keramon was a tad on the childish side. The chocolate-coloured Biyomon had been lost in his own world for a moment, trying to blank out the darkness that hovered behind. He had never been one for the dark... However, he jumped as Abraxas twirled on over. "Oh... Oh no, it's fine," Songbird reassured Mint. "I'm free to talk, if that is what you meant... Abraxas, was it? I'm just... Being this close to the dark is not my favourite type of scenario, that is all." He shivered a little, drawing the ends of his scarf closer to his chest. "It would make sense for there to be one," Shiki agreed, nodding once. "Possibly, we'll come across some form of light as we head further in." As for the direction in which they should take, she couldn't care less. When Mint finally made his choice, she followed, glancing back only once to ensure that her own team of Digimon were following. Noting that they were, she continued on, her hands in her hoodie's pockets. The markings that lined the walls to either side of them were certainly interesting. Maybe at some point later she would come back to explore these ruins further. Even though this structure was little more than data in a game, there did seem to be a hint of some kind of history. Even if it wasn't fully obvious as to what it was. WORDS 474 TAGGED KAORU AKIYAMA SUMMARY Shiki's Digimon chat happily with Mint's and Shiki agrees that there should be some form of a light source, possibly along the way in which they are currently going. Her and her team head in the same direction Mint takes. LAIKA OF GS!

give my love to a shooting star, but she moves so fast that I can't keep up. When the path had been chosen, Kaoru's team stayed back a bit to talk to Aviator's digimon. They stuck with their original conversational partners; Beta with Booker, Alpha with Elizabeth, and Rax floated back over to speak with Songbird. The thought of chatting with the other tamer crossed his mind, but the chance of having forced small talk with her (or anyone for that matter) didn't seem too appealing. If something were to come up or if he had a thought about the ruins he would talk to her about it, but until then his choice was to silently carry on. "Amen to that!" Beta loved the idea of digivolving. He didn't know what he would turn into, but it had to be something awesome. Something big, strong, and awesome. "The only thing wrong with it is that I'm gonna end up runnin' out of stuff that can put up a challenge." If that day ever came it would be quite a while from now, so the Hagurumon had nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, Alpha was enjoying Elizabeth's company. If she shared his opinion on the storms outside, who knew what else the two of them had in common. "You've got a point there. Though, if the storm hasn't stopped by the time we exit this place I would much rather have feathers. I've recently experience getting sand out of my internal workings, and I do not wish to do so again in the near future." If Beta wasn't busy having his own conversation he would have agreed, albeit in a much less refined way. "Next time I'm going to recommend somewhere much more relaxing for us to train, that's for sure."Abraxas thought about momentarily lighting up the area behind Songbird to show him there was nothing to be afraid of, but he felt Kaoru would get angry if he heard him use Crazy Giggle without warning (the damage he could do to the ruins didn't really cross his mind). "Pshhh, there's nothing to be afraid of!" He happily gave the Biyomon a light pat on the back before pointing behind them. "The dark is our friend! I mean, who knows what could be back there? He hides all the bad stuff from us!" His words could quickly be taken the wrong way, but then again maybe that's exactly what Rax wanted. Figuring out that little guy was no easy task. Kaoru stumbled for a second, looking back and shining his light on the ground to see what had caused it. A large clump of wires appeared to be coming out of the wall and trailing across the floor, only to enter the opposite wall further down the corridor. "Hey, watch out for this." He kept the light on the wire for another moment, hoping Aviator would notice. "Does that mean we're getting closer to something?" The teen was talking to himself for the most part, but any input from her would have been greatly appreciated. ★Shiki Ritsuka tagged497 wordsshall I request a wild digimon? notes |

Usually, the prospect of being in the company of another Tamer was rather unappealing to Shiki. Yet, on this particular evening, to be in the presence of another human being wasn't too bad. The fact that he was evading a conversation much like the ones her trio and his own had commenced in, was different. Usually talk was an inevitable thing when it came to other Tamers, but on this occasion she was lucky. Despite the slight annoyance of the only source of light coming from her D-terminal and Mint's, it was a rather comfortable walk through the dark. "Hmm, you bring up a true point there," Booker responded, nodding his head thoughtfully. He'd never really considered that possibility. Even if that was going to be a fair time from now, it was still a possibility nonetheless - definitely not one he'd be looking forward to, either. "Well, hopefully that'll be a long while from now," Booker went on cheerfully. "Hopefully there'll be other challenges that we'd have to face, if we ever found ourselves lacking in tough enemies.""I am hoping that we will not have to return here for the future," Elizabeth said. "It is more than I can take, when it comes to such weather as that outside." She shook her head. "I would much prefer the cold and snow to the hot temperature and annoying sand, any-day." Which is a very truthful statement, once already she had found herself picturing the pure white slopes of the Access Glacier... Very often visited by the group of four. It was a haven, in some ways. Despite the occasional negativity of the biting cold from Songbird. Well, he oftentimes wore a jumper there, so she had no idea what he was complaining about! The thought of the darkness hiding away the evil things that may lurk behind drew forth mixed emotions from Songbird. On one wing, it was good to know that you couldn't see anything that could be potentially dangerous, on the other wing, however, it was bad. How would you be able to tell if something lethal was already hovering behind you, waiting to take you down with teeth or claws? "I suppose there is that," Songbird replied hesitantly. He was going to bring up how it wouldn't be possible to prepare themselves for the possible danger behind, if that was true, but the words caught in his throat. He swallowed them back down and shook his head. "These ruins sure seem to go far down," Songbird said, trying to veer the conversation away from the gloom. Shiki looked down, tilting her D-terminal downward. She examined the wires for a moment and then stepped over them. "Seeing as this is the first thing we've found that stands out in these ruins, that's a high possibility," she replied. It would be nice if this led on to light, in some form or another. The darkness was calming enough, yet Songbird seemed to be taking it badly. WORDS 498 TAGGED KAORU AKIYAMA SUMMARY More chatter between the Digimon and Shiki examines the wires for a moment when they're mentioned. She replies to Kaoru shortly after stepping over them, speaking aloud of the fact that these wires would be the first thing to stand out in these ruins. LAIKA OF GS!

give my love to a shooting star, but she moves so fast that I can't keep up. Beta spun his gears yet again upon hearing Booker's response; of course there would be other challenges! He let out a low chuckle, the idea of toppling those challenges shooting through his mind. "And hey, maybe we could even throw down every now and then. Only makes sense that the strongest teams spar together when they get the chance." Kaoru wasn't exactly okay with the Hagurumon making plans without him, but it didn't bother him enough to make him speak up. Instead, he left his digimon to continue making conversation while they pressed forward. "Oh I completely agree! I'm hot enough as it is, so some time in an area like Access Glacier or Chip Forest would do my cogs a service." Now that Elizabeth mentioned it, Alpha decided that their next endeavor should definitely be somewhere cooler. His tamer probably wouldn't be against it, and he doubted his teammates really cared as long as Beta had and opportunity to get stronger and Abraxas could play. He'll definitely keep it in mind in case Kaoru asks him for a recommendation again. A giggle was the only response Rax gave pertaining to Songbird's comment on the size of these ruins. After some thought, however, he opted to speak up. "I wonder how big they are? They could keep going forever!" Unless there was some kind of alternative exit, leaving this place was sure to be an annoyance. Hopefully some kind of escape tunnel or terminal is located at the end, waiting for the two teams as they make their way down. "Whatever it is, I hope it's brighter than what we've had to deal with so far." Kaoru made sure to watch the ground more closely, not wanting another mishap. "What do... you..." His question was cut short as his voice trailed off. At the end of the corridor, a rather large shadow stepping into his field of vision was more than enough to steal his attention. Before he could lift his d-terminal to cast his light on the suspicious giant, a strange green glow came from what he assumed to be its right hand. The glow was all he needed to see that it was a Centarumon, though aside from its appearance the teen wasn't very familiar with that type of digimon. The green light quickly condensed into some kind of orb, which was all Kaoru needed to see before grabbing Aviator's wrist and making a run for the corridor on their left. "Sorry!" He carried out his actions just in time, too, because the sound of Centarumon's Hunting Cannon erupting was followed by a green beam of energy whizzing past where they previously stood. An explosion shook the ruins, followed by the sound of stone crumbling to the ground. Beta was the first of Kaoru's team to turn the corner into the corridor, joined by the rest of his digimon soon after. "I hope we can find a different way back, because that entire friggen' tunnel just collapsed!" The Centarumon was quick to follow, much to his dismay. A red ball of energy was the only warning of his second attack, which came in the form of his Heat Upper. "Alpha, block it!" The teen frantically shouted orders as he tried to collect himself, which was difficult when looking at the staggering figure before him. Alpha quickly propelled himself forward to get in between the laser and the tamers, spinning his gears and projecting a heated shield to take the hit. The Solarmon cringed as the beam connected with his Heat Guard, feeling the energy used to block the attack quickly drain from him. Kaoru looked over to Aviator, his previous state of panic transformed into a thin, calm smile now that they were in control of the situation. "Well, this is what we came here for, right?" The upcoming battle was sure to be a good one. This was supposed to be a game, after all, and gaming is what Kaoru does best. ★ |
((Kaoru's words are cut short by the appearance of a Centarumon, who is quick to fire his Hunting Cannon.
